WHAT CAN THE EAP DO FOR ME?

The Baystate EAP can provide professional help if you or an adult family member is experiencing personal challenges.  Sometimes a challenge can become too painful and difficult to handle alone.  It may affect your happiness and health, your family and your work.  Professional consultation can be beneficial at these times.

The Baystate EAP offers a solution-focused approach toward effectively resolving problems.  Generally, we meet with people for one to three visits, providing assessment, consultation, information, and referral as needed.  You can consult in person or by phone.

Yes.  The Baystate EAP is founded on the principle of confidentiality and subject to state and federal confidentiality laws.  Job security and promotional opportunities will not be jeopardized by participating in the Baystate EAP.  We keep all records confidential; no information about your EAP services would become part of your personnel records.

DOES ANYONE AT WORK EVER NEED TO KNOW THAT I USE THE EAP?

Most employees seek EAP services on their own.  The consultant will work with you to solve a problem confidentially.  Appointments are available before or after work, or during lunch, and they are scheduled to maximize your privacy.

There are circumstances when an employee's problems may negatively affect his/her job performance, or result in him/her being unable to work.  At such times, a supervisor, or the staff of the Baystate Employee Health Service (EHS), may refer an employee for EAP services.  In such situations, and with written consent from the employee, the EAP staff may discuss limited information with the supervisor or EHS staff during the course of receiving EAP services.

CAN I TAKE TIME OFF FROM WORK TO BE SEEN DURING THE WORK DAY, OR DO I HAVE TO USE PERSONAL TIME HOURS?

It is at the discretion of your Supervisor, whether or not you can be seen during working hours, and you may need to use personal time hours for the appointment.  The EAP will make every effort to accommodate an appointment time that will not conflict with a work shift.
