Weight Loss Surgery Program (Bariatric Surgery)

Baystate Medical Center's Weight Loss Surgery Program employs leading edge surgical techniques to get the results obese patients desire when diet, exercise, and behavioral change alone don't meet expectations and health needs.  Our board certified bariatric surgeons perform more weight loss surgical procedures than any other medical facility in Western Massachusetts.

Weight Loss Surgery Program staff recognize that obesity is a disease that profoundly affects each person's life in a different way.  Program professionals help patients design a personal weight loss experience that understand that patients may be facing medical, social, and emotional difficulties as a result of being overweight.

Program participants have access to a team of expert surgeons and specially trained dietitians, psychologists, physicians, physician assistants and nurses to help them through all phases of care:

- Preoperative education

- Bariatric surgery procedures

- Postoperative counseling

- Dietary management

In May 2008, Baystate's Weight Loss Surgery Program was re-accreditated as a Level 1 Bariatric Surgery Center by the American College of Surgeons.  Learn more....
