After you leave the hospital, you should call your primary care provider for follow-up care.

Will my primary care provider come to the hospital at all during my stay?

Your primary care provider will remain in contact with the hospitalist team, but will not usually come to the hospital.  Your care will be coordinated by the hospitalist team.

Whom do I call to get my test results after I am discharged from the hospital?

After you leave the hospital, you should call your primary care provider for test results.

What do I do after I am discharged from the hospital if I do not have a primary care provider?

If you do not have primary care provider, you will receive a list of physicians who are accepting new patients or you can ask to be referred to a Baystate-affiliated health center.  You may also call Baystate Health Link at 1-800-377-HEALTH for a physician referral or to speak with a marketing representative about enrolling in one of our classes or support groups.

Will my insurance cover the treatment I receive from the hospitalists?

All insurance plans are accepted.  The hospitalists will bill your insurance company for your hospital care and treatment.  Your primary care provider will not bill your insurance company for this care.

Who do I call if I or my family have questions about my hospital stay?

If you or your family have questions or concerns about your care during you hospital stay please call the hospitalist team during regular business hours at:

  • Baystate Medical Center: 413-794-4320 or dial extension 4-4320 from your room.
  • Baystate Franklin Medical Center:  413-773-2292 or dial extension 3-2292 from your room.
  • Baystate Mary Lane Hospital:  413-967-6211 or dial extension 7-6211 from your room

After hours, you can call your unit nurse who will page the hospitalist for you.

When will the Hospitalist see me when I am in the hospital?

You will be seen by the hospitalist daily; more frequently if necessary.
