Baystate Medical Center
The Emergency Department of Baystate Medical Center (BMC), the western campus of the Tufts University School of Medicine, is the only Level I Trauma Center in Western Massachusetts. We are the largest provider of tertiary care in the region with over 110,000 patient visits annually. Within dedicated treatment areas, our professional staff cares for pediatric, trauma, and psychiatric patients as well as those with both major and minor medical or surgical illness.
The Emergency Department has 26 full-time specialists, all of whom are board certified in Emergency Medicine and are faculty members of Tufts University's only residency program in emergency medicine. In addition to our residency program, other education programs include a Pediatric Emergency Medicine Fellowship and an Emergency Ultrasonography Fellowship. Along with our dedicated team of nurses and physician assistants, the Emergency Department team works to treat all who arrive needing care with the highest level of recognized, state of the art emergency care.
In addition to providing access to BMC's sub-specialists, the department is integrated into both the local pre-hospital ambulance/ EMS services as well as the regional helicopter transport systems.
Baystate Franklin Medical Center
Our full-service Emergency Department treats over 24,000 patients annually, supported by fully equipped cardiac and multiple trauma rooms. Our experienced, board certified emergency physicians and specially-trained nurses work in partnership with Baystate Franklin Medical Center X-ray, Respiratory and laboratory Technicians. The computerized Patient Care Information System (PCIS) provides rapid transmission of diagnostic test results directly to other departments.
We have digital X-ray so we instantly have an image on which to base sound medical decisions on how to treat our patients.
We are backed up by our affiliation with Baystate Medical Center, the region's only Level I Trauma Center. Our helipad and community-based ambulance service (BH Ambulance) provides us with the ability to transfer patients to Baystate Medical Center, or other tertiary care facility, and enables us to quickly provide the sophisticated coordinated care vital to traumatic injury victims.
Baystate Mary Lane Hospital
Baystate Mary Lane Hospital Emergency Department is open 24 hours per day providing urgent and emergent care for all medical, surgical and pediatric problems.
The Emergency Department features full time physicians who are all board certified in Emergency Medicine, and many of them in another subspecialty, as well. The nursing team consists of nurses all with special training in basic life support, and advanced cardiac life support.
In addition, the staff in the Emergency Department has access to the Trauma team of specialists at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield.
You can also find the latest in life-saving technology in our Emergency Department, from the new biphasic defibrillators, and modern ventilators, to surgical equipment, and a mobile electronic medical record system, which allows our staff to access information and records on our patients across the 3 hospital system.
