Arthritis Treatment Program
The Baystate Rehabilitation Care staff at Baystate Frankin Medical Center has recently initiated a comprehensive arthritis treatment program under the direction of rheumatologist, Richard Brown, MD, and orthopedic surgeon, Jeffrey Hayer, MD.
This program consists of coordinated care for patients suffering from degenerative and rheumatologic joint conditions. The goal is to provide early intervention with appropriate therapies to restrict tissue destruction from arthritic conditions. Evaluation will include analysis of the feet, as poor foot positions can adversely affect the knees and hips. Options for affordable orthotic correction will be available. Adaptive equipment and splinting are offered for conditions affecting the upper extremities, in particular, the hands.
The program offers coordinated care in physical and occupational therapies, as well as nutritional services, orthopedics, and rheumatology. This program is the only comprehensive arthritis program in Franklin County.
