ALTThe Division of Endocrinology, Diabetes, and Metabolism provides a full range of inpatient and outpatient clinical services.  Areas of expertise include, but are not limited to, thyroid disease, adrenal disorders, diabetes, osteoporosis and pituitary disease.

We see inpatient consultations at Baystate Medical Center and outpatients at the 3300 Main Street clinic. We also see outpatients at Baystate Mary Lane Hospital, East Longmeadow and in Northampton, MA.  We are dedicated in providing effective and compassionate care to our patients and hope you consider us for your endocrinology needs.

 

The goal of the Division of Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism is to support high quality care for our patients and improve the health of our community.

 

Baystate Medical Center’s Division of Endocrinology and Diabetes was ranked 29th nationally in the U.S. News & World Report’s 2013-2014 24th annual “Best Hospitals” ranking.

 

All members of the division are board certified and have expertise in the treatment of thyroid disease, adrenal disorders, diabetes, osteoporosis and pituitary disease. We have an ADA-accredited certified diabetes educator team on-site who supports the care of our diabetes patients.

 

Our clinic has a special interest in thyroid disease and bone disorders and our faculty have published research in these areas.

 

Dr. Ibitoro Osakwe is certified in endocrine neck ultrasound for the evaluation of structural thyroid and parathyroid disease and perform outpatient fine needle biopsies if necessary. All of our providers are licensed to administer radioiodine for the treatment of thyroid disorders.

 

The division also participates in providing patient care at Baystate High Street Clinic, Baystate Mary Lane Hospital and runs the Baystate Medical Center Inpatient Diabetes Service.

Diabetes Self Management Education Program

The Diabetes Self Management Education Program is designed to help adult patients and their families learn to manage their diabetes with confidence. The goal of the Diabetes Education Program at Baystate Medical Center is to teach people how to live a full and productive life with this chronic condition.  Learn more....

Endocrinology Inpatient Consult Service and Baystate Inpatient Diabetes Services (BIDS).

The endocrinology inpatient consult service provides consultative endocrinology services to inpatients at Baystate Medical Center. The BIDS service provides diabetes consultative services to inpatients at Baystate Medical Center and is located within the hospital at:

Medical Education Program

 

Our faculty supervises fellows in our ACGME-accredited two year endocrinology fellowship program as well as residents from the Baystate Internal Medicine and Medicine/Pediatrics programs.

 

Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism Fellowship Program

 

The Baystate ACGME-accredited Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism Fellowship Program provides a well-balanced, academic experience over a two year program.  Fellows work closely with endocrinology faculty as well as faculty members in obstetrics/gynecology, endocrine surgery, nuclear medicine, radiology, pathology, pediatric endocrinology, reproductive endocrinology, podiatry and ophthalmology.

 

Fellows are ABIM board-eligible in endocrinology on successful completion of the fellowship program.
