There's Always a Need
|

60 percent of the population is eligible to give blood,
yet only about 5 percent of eligible individuals actually do it.
|
|
| |
| Blood is perishable and has a limited shelf life. There is always a need for donors of all blood types. |
| |
- At Baystate medical Center, over 3,000 patients receive more than 29,000 transfusions of blood products each year.
|
| |
- Nationwide, every minute three gallons of donated blood are transfused to American patients, saving 4.5 million lives a year.
|
| |
- Because the blood supply depends on volunteer donors, shortages of blood are especially acute at holiday times:
- When donors have other priorities.
- There is greater need due to more road accidents.

When you give money, you give food, clothing and shelter,
but when you give blood, you give LIFE.
