More than 15,000 walkers in Springfield and Greenfield – participants in the annual Rays of Hope – A Walk Toward the Cure of Breast Cancer on Sunday, October 25 – raised $900,000 for the care and treatment of breast cancer patients and for cancer research in western Massachusetts. And the money is still coming in. Visit us for more information or to make a contribution.

For the first time, breast cancer survivors, their relatives, friends, and supporters participated in simultaneous walks in Forest Park in Springfield and Energy Park in Greenfield.
Dr. Grace Makari-Judson, medical director of the Comprehensive Breast Center in the Baystate Regional Cancer Program, said she was inspired and encouraged by the families who attended the walk.
“It’s amazing to see how caring and willing to help these people are. It inspires us to continue in our research to find a cure,” she said.
More than 190,000 women are diagnosed with breast cancer every year. Many of the programs funded by the walk are geared towards early detection and breast cancer awareness.
