Naomi Bolognani, RN, OCN, has joined the staff of Baystate Franklin Medical Center as the Oncology program manager.
Prior to joining the Baystate Franklin Medical Center staff, Bolognani served as a nursing supervisor at Berkshire Hematology/Oncology (BHO) in North Adams. Previously, she worked in the medical-surgical inpatient unit at Southwestern Vermont Medical Center in Bennington, then joined the nursing staff at North Adams Regional Hospital. It was during her tenure there that Bolognani became interested in Oncology, spending 10 years working in the Chemotherapy department.
“Oncology has become my absolute love,” Bolognani noted. “I actually took an orientation class in chemotherapy with Carol Curtiss, and I was in awe of her.” [Curtiss was the first nurse manager of BFMC’s Oncology Department.] “Little did I know I would be working in the hospital where Carol started.” Bolognani added, “At this point in my life and career, this is exactly where I am supposed to be. It feels comfortable, and right.”
A native of Whitingham, Vermont, Bolognani lives there with her husband and two children, a 22-year old son, and a daughter, age 19. “We’re outdoors people,” she said. “We love biking, hiking and cross country skiing.” And recently, she and her husband have taken up golf, “for something else we can do together when our children leave.
“It’s quite different coming back to a hospital setting, where Oncology is one of many disciplines, after having worked in a specialized office setting for 10 years,” said Bolognani. “I’m impressed with how everyone works together as a tight-knit team to offer our patients the highest quality care.”
Bolognani admires the personal, friendly community base at Baystate Franklin. She concluded, “I feel fortunate – and truly blessed -- to have this opportunity to work with such a solid group of compassionate, caring professionals. I’m honored to be part of the BFMC team.”
Bolognani can be reached in the BFMC Oncology Department at 413-773-2221.
