For Immediate Release

Ware, MA (April 22, 2013) – D & D Fitness Factory a co-ed training facility in Ware will sponsor two special events to be held on Sunday, April 28; The Lift for Life and 5 K Road Race. Both events are held in memory of their family member Donna Goudreau.

“These events are held annually and both receive tremendous community support,” said Darryl and Damien Goudreau, co-owner of D & D Fitness Factory, located in Ware. Joined by their family members and friends, they “champion” the special events which have a charitable twist; they help to raise funds for their Walk of Champions team and the Walk of Champions to be held at the Quabbin Reservoir on Sunday, May 5.

“Close to 50 people have currently registered to participate in the early morning 5 K run, or compete in the Lift for Life,” noted Goudreau. “There is still plenty of time for community members to join us on Sunday morning for the Fitness Challenge, Road Race, or both!”

The co-ed lifting competition has five men’s weight classes and two women’s class, which included a bench press, axle bar lift and a truck pull. The 5K Road Race features three co-ed age groups, students age 19 and under, ages 20-35 and ages 36 and up, and prizes are awarded to the top finishers in each category.

“We are proud to be a local gym raising money that will help people who live in our community," said Goudreau. “Our program at the gym strengthens people physically and we are honored to be part of the team that helps to lift our community members up during a cancer journey.”

The Goudreau’s life has been touched by cancer, and they learned through their journey that a healthy dose of community support goes a long way in the fight against cancer.

“Unfortunately, cancer is something that touches each person's life in some way,” said Goudreau. “We put our strength together to support cancer care close to home in our community, through the Baystate Regional Cancer Program at Baystate Mary Lane Hospital, something that was important to Donna and our family during her cancer journey.”

The Goudreau family invites community members to join them on Sunday, April 28 to compete in the Fitness Challenge, the Road Race or to cheer on the competition throughout the morning.
