| About Our Practice: |
Baystate Behavioral Health - Adult Psychiatry provides treatment for patients with psychiatric disorders ages 18 and older in a safe, secure setting. A multidisciplinary team provides short-term specialized treatment, using a problem-oriented approach tailored to the needs of the individual.
The team consists of a psychiatrist, a physician assistant, psychiatric nurses, psychiatric social workers and specialists with Master's degrees, occupational and recreational therapists and unit counselors. In addition to individual, group and family therapy, a full range of biological treatments are available including pharmacotherapy and electroconvulsive therapy.
Other resources include on-site neuropsychological testing and advanced diagnostic evaluation. Medical, neurological and other consultations are available. The facilities are licensed to accommodate both voluntary and involuntary patients. Psychiatric coverage is available seven days a week, and we accept emergency admissions 24 hours a day.
Treatment planning meetings occur at least five times a week. The staff of the Adult Inpatient Service works closely with referring clinicians through frequent communication and invitations to participate in planning meetings. We encourage the patient's family to be involved in the assessment and treatment process. Specialized treatment offered by the Service includes geriatric psychiatry, eating disorders, protocols, ECT and behaviorally-focused care plans. specializes in the evaluation and treatment of gastrointestinal tract and liver disorders in adults. Our board certified specialists are part of Baystate Health's team of physicians, many of whom are nationally recognized for their expertise in patient care, clinical research and medical education. They also serve as faculty members for the Tufts University School of Medicine.
