Emergency Care:
For life threatening emergencies or serious injuries, please go straight to the Baystate Medical Centr Emergency Room on Chestnut Street. For other urgent problems, we prefer that you contact us first for advice. Many managed care programs require authorization from Brightwood Health Center/Centro de Salud before you can receive care at the emergency room.
HIV Testing & Counseling:
Comprehensive testing and counseling is available for HIV, Hepatitis and STD referrals. Confidential testing only.
Monday and Wednesday, 9 am - 4:30 pm
Friday, 9 am - 12 pm
Tuesday and Thursday by appointment only (Ask for Sandy)
Immunizations:
These are available to children under the age of 18. Please bring the child's immunization records.
Thursday 1:00 pm.-3:00 pm
Medication Refills:
Please bring your medications to each visit and ask for refills, if needed. If you need refills before your next appointment, please call the health center before 3:00 pm. We need the complete name and dose of the medication, and telephone number of the drug store.
Please call 48 hours prior to your last dosage of medication.
Pregnancy Tests:
Available from 8:30 am -11:30 am and from 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm. No appointment is necessary.
Primary Care Providers:
As a patient of the Brightwood Health Center/Centro de Salud, you have your own primary care provider (PCP) - a physician, a nurse practitioner, or nurse-midwife. Each primary care provider (PCP) is part of a team that includes a physician, nurse practioner, nurse, medical assistant, and clerical staff who work together to provide the best health care possible.
STD Clinic/Clinica STD:
The STD Clinic has walk-in care available Thursday and Friday from 9 am - 11 am for diagnosis and treatment of sexually transmitted diseases.
Under 18 years of age, testing is free and no parental permission is needed. Over 18 years of age, insurance or donations are accepted or also can be seen free of charge. If you have a question about the STD Clinic, please call (413) 794-8354.
