Hospitalists are board-certified internal medicine physicians whose practice is devoted to providing care for hospitalized patients. The hospitalists in Baystate Medical Practices - Hospital Medicine - BFMC partner with area primary care physicians to offer quality care to their patients who are admitted to Franklin Medical Center. Because they are experts in the diagnosis and treatment of seriously ill patients and are based in the hospital, hospitalists can respond quickly to patients' needs. As a patient at Baystate Franklin Medical Center, you may be seen by one of our skilled hospital-based doctors who will oversee your medical treatment while you are our patient. Our hospitalists will provide you with full-time medical supervision from the time you are admitted to the hospital to the time of your discharge, after which your personal primary care doctor will take responsibility for your follow-up care.
Hospitalists conduct daily rounds and are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. They also care for patients admitted through the Emergency Department who do not have a primary care physician. All of our hospitalists are board certified or board eligible by the American Board of Internal Medicine or the American Board of Family Practice. Several have advanced training and hold degrees in clinical specialties. We have hospitalists who speak Spanish, French, Hindi, Malayalam and Polish in addition to English.
