Ware, MA (October 1, 2013) - The community is invited to an Autumn Open House at Baystate Mary Lane Hospital on Wednesday, October 16, from 4:00 to 6:00 pm to tour the new Healing Garden which was recently constructed in the hospital courtyard; view the recent upgrades to the Radiology Department; and visit the Oncology Suite which was renovated and expanded last year.

The theme tying all of these areas together is that they were made possible in whole or in part by the community’s philanthropic support of Baystate Mary Lane Hospital. To recognize these generous contributors, the hospital will unveil its new donor wall with a special ceremony at 4:30 pm in the main lobby. This handsome wall will serve as a permanent display of the incredible support Baystate Mary Lane Hospital has received from the community, patients, their families and hospital staff.
“Our donor wall is one way to publicly acknowledge the individuals, businesses, and organizations that have made such generous contributions to this hospital,” said Chuck Gijanto, hospital president. “We also recognize the support we receive through many community-based fundraising events."
The largest of these events, Baystate Mary’s Lane’s annual Walk of Champions, funded the Healing Garden which was constructed this summer. This garden includes a water fall, plants, flowers and several seating areas to promote comfort and relaxation. Overlooking the garden is the oncology suite, where the Baystate Regional Cancer Program at Baystate Mary Lane Hospital provides convenient access to comprehensive cancer care, clinical trials and a multidisciplinary team approach to cancer care. The 2012 renovations of this area were also funded in part by the Walk of Champions.

And in the new Radiology room, which is dedicated to Country Bank, visitors will see the technologies and amenities which Country Bank helped to make possible with its commitment of $100.000.
“In this time of year when families come together to celebrate the harvest and all that we are thankful for, we wanted to open our doors, invite the community in express our own thanks publicly,” said Gijanto. “Everyone is welcome, and we are looking forward to a wonderful event!”

RSVPs are requested by October 9 from those planning to attend. For more information or to reply, please contact Baystate Health Foundation at 413-794-4288 or
