Fun Facts -- Who Knew

They lurk in the water you drink, the food you eat, and the air you breathe. They are on nearly everything you touch, and even your very own skin. Sounds like the introduction to a very scary movie, doesn’t it? And yet it’s true. What are they? 

Germs! 

And some of them can make you very sick. What can you do? Believe it or not, washing your hands is the single most important thing you can do to keep from getting sick or spreading your germs to others.

DID YOU KNOW THAT YOU ERUCT ABOUT 15 TIMES EVERY DAY? OH, YOU DON’T KNOW WHAT ERUCT MEANS? 

 

HERE ARE A COUPLE CLUES. EVERYONE DOES IT. AND IT INVOLVES YOUR STOMACH. HAVE YOU GUESSED? IT MEANS TO BURP. PRETTY FANCY WORD FOR SOMETHING SO SIMPLE, DON’T YOU THINK? JUST REMEMBER TO SAY, “EXCUSE ME!”

If you knew you could do one thing that would give you the energy you need to play basketball, work out with your Wii, and study, would you do it? What if it also improved your memory, your mood, and made you less clumsy? How about if it helped you to grow and was something super easy to do? Now would you do it? Yes? 

 

Ok, here it is: get at least nine hours of sleep every night. Sometimes you might even need more, but if you get at least nine hours, you’ll do better, feel better and even look better!

THEY ARE TINY LITTLE HAIRS IN YOUR NOSE! THEY HELP KEEP THINGS MOVING AND CLEAN THE AIR THAT YOU BREATHE IN. TALK ABOUT A DIRTY JOB!

If you have to get a lot of things done, like your homework, your paper route, soccer practice, and even – ugh – cleaning your room, you better try to save your energy by just sitting around as much as you can, right? Wrong! 

 

It may sound strange, but being active actually makes you feel more alert and energetic. Plus, it helps you deal with stress, and then sleep better at night, which gives you even more energy the next day. It’s a win-win!
