As Chairman of Pathology, Dr. Friedberg oversees a hybrid academic/private practice group of 21 pathologists responsible for 50,000 surgical specimens, 90,000 cytology specimens, and 7 million laboratory tests.
He has 25+ years international experience in biotechnology, clinical and diagnostic testing, molecular biology, including 10 years of bench research experience at Stanford University, Duke University, and the National Institute for Medical Research (London, UK.) He is double board certified by the American Board of Pathology.
Dr. Friedberg holds a BS with Honors from Stanford University, an MD from Duke University, a PhD in coagulation biochemistry from Duke University, and a Master’s (SM) in Health Care Management from Harvard University. He is a Certified Physician Executive (CPE) by the American College of Physician Executives. In 2003, Dr. Friedberg was honored with the Lansky Award by the CAP, for respected leadership and significant contributions to the field of pathology. In 2007, he was elected to the Board of Governors of the College of American Pathologists, where he also serves on a variety of committees, including Technology Assessment, Strategic Planning, Finance, and International Accreditation, as well as the Council of Government & Professional Affairs and the Council on Accreditation.
