Goals
To gain experience in providing medical care to the neurosurgical pediatric and adult patient with a variety of neurologic conditions including trauma, spinal disorders, tumors of the central nervous system, cerebrovascular disease, hydrocephalus and craniofacial deformities.
Objectives
The student will…
- evaluate patients with a variety of neurological conditions and interpret laboratory and radiographic studies used in the treatment of these disorders.
- assist in inpatient and emergency department consultation.
- assist in the operating room with a neurosurgeon.
- assist with neurological procedures
- gain experience in the outpatient clinic, icu and patient wards.
- attend rounds, weekly trauma morbidity and mortality conference and weekly neuroradiology conference.
