Emergency Medicine

Goals

Under the direct supervision of the Emergency Medicine faculty and senior residents, students will develop their ability to rapidly evaluate patients and plan the management of a wide spectrum of medical, surgical, pediatric, and psychiatric problems.

Objectives

The student will…

  • Gain experience performing procedures, including minor surgery, in the emergency department
  • Improve clinical skills and ability to present in a focused fashion and develop the skill of EM differential diagnosis.
  • Become exposed to emergency medicine through direct patient contact with active EM patients and understand the impact of the ED on outpatient and impatient care
  • Attend EM conferences, student lectures, ultrasound, EKG and procedure workshops along with simulated lab.

1 shift overnight 11pm-8am

EMS ride-a-long shift
