Adult Inpatient Psychiatry

Goals

Working directly with an attending psychiatrist, the student will function as an integral member of the treatment team on the Adult Inpatient Hospital Unit.

Objectives

The student will…

  • perform the initial psychiatric evaluation on a patient.
  • develop skills in individualized psychotherapy and family therapy.
  • understand the use of psychopharmacologic agents.
  • set individualized goals to help the student maximize his/her learning experience.
  • meet regularly with the treatment team attending psychiatrist to discuss student’s progression.
