Education

The Department of Family Medicine at Tufts University School of Medicine is actively involved in patient care and clinical teaching with an emphasis on innovations in primary care. The Department has clinical faculty in a variety of community settings with more than 250 faculty at over 150 sites, including family physicians at Baystate Medical Center and other sites throughout Western Massachusetts.


The diversity of these programs, with service to urban, suburban, and rural populations, and a strong clinical base represents a major strength for the Department.

Education Programs

3rd Year Core Clerkship

The Family Medicine clerkship is one of the 6 core clerkships required of all TUSM third-year medical students. This is a six-week experience which includes six didactic days that feature interactive workshops and case discussions.
