Baystate Medical Center Affiliations

Council of Teaching Hospitals and Health Systems (COTH) of the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC)

ALTThe AAMC's Council of Teaching Hospitals and Health Systems (COTH) is composed of approximately 400 major teaching hospitals and health systems. COTH was established in 1965 to provide representation and services related to the special needs, concerns, and opportunities facing major teaching hospitals in the United States and Canada. It serves as the principal source of hospital and health system input into overall AAMC policy and direction. The Council's activities focus on issues of special and unique interest to the academic community.

Alliance of Independent Academic Medical Centers (AIAMC)

ALTBaystate Medical Center is a founding member of the Alliance of Independent Academic Medical Centers (AIAMC), a national membership organization made up of over 60 major academic medical centers and health systems committed to quality patient care, medical education, and research. AIAMC members regard medical education and research as strategic assets in providing patient-centered care; operate independently of medical school ownership or governance while maintaining major medical school affiliations; care for a patient population that mirrors their local communities; and provide teaching and research that is innovative, applicable to practice and community responsive.

Group on Regional Medical Campuses (GRMC) of the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC)

The Group on Regional Medical Campuses (GRMC) fosters professional growth and development, information sharing, communication, and discussion of key issues of regional medical campuses. Baystate Medical Center is the Western Campus of Tufts University School of Medicine.

Joint Commission

ALT The Joint Commission evaluates and accredits more than 15,000 health care organizations and programs in the United States. An independent, not-for-profit organization, The Joint Commission is the nation’s predominant standards-setting and accrediting body in health care.

Medical Library Association (MLA)

ALTThe Medical Library Association (MLA) is a nonprofit, educational organization that supports a knowledge base of health information research, and works with a global network of partners to promote the importance of quality information for improved health to the health care community and the public.
