Thomas Higgins MD Elected Master of Critical Care Medicine

Dr. Thomas HigginsDr. Thomas Higgins has been elected Master of Critical Care Medicine (MCCM)— the highest honor bestowed by the American College of Critical Care Medicine (ACCCM). According to the ACCCM website, Dr. Higgins, Professor of Medicine and Surgery at TUSM, is 1 of 37 Masters who have been conferred in the first 2 years the award has been given.

"I'm honored to be among the select group of Critical Care physicians to receive the MCCM designation this year," says Higgins. "Although my professional activities now include administration and education, I'm still at heart a Critical Care clinician, and enjoy the bedside challenges in the intensive care unit."

The MCCM designation is awarded to physicians who have been Fellows of the American College of Critical Care Medicine for at least five years and who have distinguished themselves by achieving national and international professional prominence due to personal character, leadership, eminence in clinical practice, outstanding contributions to research and education in critical care medicine, and years of exemplary service to to SCCM, ACCM, and the field of critical care medicine.
