Dr. Michael Rosenblum, Internal Medicine Residency Program Director, along with faculty from IM residencies at the University of Connecticut and Yale University, facilitated the Northeast Milestone Collaborative's faculty development program in Hartford last month. Dr. Kevin Hinchey, Chief Academic Officer at Baystate, helped develop the agenda for the collaborative. The full-day program was attended by more than 30 clinician-educators from southern New England.
The Northeast Milestone Collaborative was formed to:
- help clinician-educators better understand and incorporate milestone-based assessment tools for the development of their residents within the New Accreditation System (NAS).
- develop a multi-institutional working group to create a standardized, reproducible and user-friendly inpatient based assessment tool for further investigation.
Baystate is a leader in the use of competency-based milestones. "Our IM residency was the first program in the United States to have its entire curriculum and evaluation system entirely Milestone-based," says Dr. Rosenblum.
