Dr. Edward Reiter with Dr. Barbara Stechenberg at the Launch of the Edward O. Reiter Society for Faculty and Alumni

On October 11, 2012 the Edward O. Reiter Society for Faculty and Alumni was launched by the Department of Pediatrics and Baystate Children’s Hospital in honor of Dr. Reiter’s positive influence on the academic lives of faculty and residents. 2012 also marks the 20th anniversary of Baystate Children’s Hospital membership in the National Association of Children’s Hospitals and Related Institutions, a designation that Dr. Reiter worked hard to achieve.

During a Tribute Academic Afternoon, seven former residents and fellows presented on a wide range of topics, after which, Dr. Reiter received an standing ovation from the audience of approximately 100. A tour followed of the new Pediatric Emergency Room and new Pediatric Intensive Care Unit that are scheduled to open by the end of 2012.

At an evening celebration at the Log Cabin, Dr. Reiter was presented with a Baystate Children’s Hospital chair and a framed certificate commemorating the launch of the Society.
