Baystate Continuing Interprofessional Education Receives Joint Accreditation

March 01, 2014

Baystate Continuing Interprofessional Education (BCIE) has been granted a six year Joint Accreditation by the governing bodies of the American Nurses Credential Center, the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education, and the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education. Baystate was commended for its vision, leadership, and commitment to lifelong learning.

"A recent Keroack's Corner blog post stressed that 'the coming healthcare world will require an unprecedented level of connectedness between nurses, doctors, and allied health professionals…,'" said Joanna Donahue, RN, MBA, BCIE Director. "Many of Baystate’s continuing education activities are planned by and for the healthcare team." Joint accreditation promotes interprofessional education specifically designed to improve interprofessional collaborative practice in health care delivery.

Only 13 other organizations have achieved this accreditation to date.
