December 01, 2012: Drs. White O'Connell and Truehart's research project, "Bleeding patterns after postpartum LNG-IUS placement: A pilot study", won third place for Best Poster and Abstract at the North American Forum on Family Planning October 27-29, 2012 in Denver, CO.
Internal Medicine Residents Participate in American College of Physicians Chapter Meeting

Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration Awards Baystate Researchers $1.6 Million
November 01, 2012: The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) has awarded Barry Sarvet, MD, Chief of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, and Jessica Wozniak, PsyD, Family Advocacy Center, a 4-year $1.6 million grant for their project "Therapy House Calls: Effective Treatment in the Home for Families Experiencing Trauma and Loss."
Anesthesiology Residents Participate in 2012 Annual American Society of Anesthesiologists Meeting

Third Dedicated Education Units (DEU) for Nursing Education Opened This Summer
July 01, 2012: In the Dedicated Education Unit model, a nursing unit is dedicated to a specific nursing school, to allow nurse clinical teachers to learn and apply one specific nursing curriculum. Each student works with a specially trained staff nurse, and a nursing faculty.

2012 Pharmacy Residency Match Fills All of Baystate's PGY-1 Pharmacy Residency Slots
April 01, 2012: Baystate Medical Center matched all five of its open PGY-1 pharmacy practice residency positions in the Pharmacy Residency Match that took place on March 21, 2012. This year's Match had both the highest number of participating candidates and the most positions filled since the program's inception in 1979. Pharmacy residency are competitive—1,438 of this year's PGY-1 candidates did not match.
